I just found out the 40GB hard drive in my Dell 700m shows a mere 34.4 GB total size,is it normal? This is a replacement from DELL for a defective 700m, which has 37.3 GB actual capacity on it. Has anyone ever seen a hard drive with such a big difference between it's labeled and actual capacities?

Is there any type of recovery partition on it? My Thinkpad was the same way. It had a three GB recovery partition. The partition was not viewable or removeable unitl you turned it off in the BIOS.
