    Why not have constant fan at all time??

    If heat is the issue, why not have the internal laptop fan on constantly? What is the con of that?

    less battery life, your fan will die soon and the noise.

    If you wan't you can connect your fan directly to usb power to make it spin at max all the time.

    Really the best solution for laptop cooling is cleaning out the heatsink, apply new thermal paste and follow the undervolting guide.

    It's common for fans to fail, and running your fan at max speed constantly will kill it even faster.

    Not to mention the extra dust that gets sucked in, just compounding the problem.

    i hate noise. and notebooks fan can be terribly wining and loud.

    However, a fan running slowly and quietly is less noticeable than one which keeps turning on and off.

    Most notebook manufacturers don't give enough attention to the design of the fan and the associated operating rules. A thin form factor inherently requires a thin fan which needs to spin faster to move the same amount of air.

    Samsung provide some user control over fan operation using Fn+F6 plus the newest Samsung I have used (NC20) provided an option in the BIOS to keep the fan running continuously instead of turning on and off.

    that's true.

    anyways. a constant fan would mean it's non adapting, and that means it sometimes cools too much, and, worse, sometimes maybe too less. it's not adapting to it's environment (which can get warmer, and cooler, during the day.. :)). not good :)

    but yeah, those off, ueeehhh, off, ueeeeh fans are annoying :)
