Along the lines of my other post about chipsets, I'm confused about all the options of a motherboard within one chipset. Again, why don't they just make one board within a chipset that is the best? What is with all the options? I understand different RAM options but there are so many others I don't understand. Obviously I'm having trouble narrowing down my board.

Here is the Asus options for the Intel P45 chipset http://ca.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=11&l3=709

And the Gigabyte one http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products...spx?VenderType=Intel&CPUType=socket+775#Intel P45

Basically, what are the makers trying to achieve offering so many options within one chipset?

8 phase vs 16 phase power, different PCI-E bandwidth, memory stability, ports, expandability, overclocking potential, etc.

But this is better suited for Desktopreview.
