Laptop: Advent 7093 / Quanta TW3M
This laptop was originally shiped with a core duo T2300. I bought it as a project. With the T2300 the laptop powers but freezes at the splash screen. Also, I couldn't access to the bios.
I replaced the T2300 with my T5300 and every thing was fixed. the laptop doesn't freeze any more, and I can access the the bios.
Can any one explain what's wrong with this laptop?
1- Is it a corrupted bios?
2- Does any one know where I can find the bios file for this laptop?
Edit:
I found where to get the drivers. Link
Is Quanta owned by intel? I mean why is intel hosting Quanta drivers in their website?

it's possible the T2300 is defective.

so did the BIOS update fix it, or is goofball on the ball? (pun intended
)

Are all of the pins on the T2300 straight?
And did you try adjusting the memory cards when it didnt boot?
Sometimes systems are picky, and take a few starts to get them going right.

I am going to take a guess and say that your laptop is not supplying enough wattage for the t2300, which actually requires more wattage than the t5200 for stable operation

thanks guys
I tried different memery modules. I tried another T2300 and the problem persists. The laptop works fine with the T5300 but freezes with either T2300(s).
I flashed the bios to a different version but the problem is still here. I think that I've already tried a different power supply.
Any more suggestions? -
I don't think it has anything to do with the power supply--I think you just need to up the vcore voltage if you can. Now, that is not always possible with laptops as the bios settings are limited.
Notebook hardware control can probably do it, depending on your hardware -

naton is very good at CPU pin mods.
Increasing the voltage is not a prob for this pro

the default voltage used by the T5300 is about similar to the the one used by the T2300, and if I'm not wrong both can be undervolted to 0.95v for all multipliers (well if not pin mod is involved).
That said I don't think it is a voltage nor a power supply problem.
The main difference between the T5300 and the T2300 is the FSB. So, guys do you think that my problem is clock generator / chipset / whatever related? -
up ....... up
Why the T5300 works in this laptop but the T2300 makes it freeze?
