As of right now i have an Hp Pav dv6626us with the f.59a Bios. What cards are compatible with this laptop/bios. i have a Intel 3950 abg card, but i really want an integrated agn like the 5300, for range as well as speed. Is this possible? I know that i will need to add another antenna, i can get those off ebay.

You have to be careful with HP, there is a whitelist of wireless cards which are blocked by the system BIOS. HP does this because they want you to buy their overpriced wireless cards.
Unfortunately the upgrade options will only be the HP branded cards your system had as an option at retail

Hmm...I've never had a card that supported n but I dont see why you'd need another antenna. The two that are currently attached to the wifi card are not for each type. I is the main antenna and the other is a 'backup' antenna. So I assume n wifi cards will also only need 2 (i could be wrong).

As for compatibility, they should all be recognized (although you might need drivers). All wifi cards that I know of use the same pci connector so you should be fine there. I slapped a 4 year old b/g card into a new hp last year and it worked right out of the gate without so much as a hiccup. You shouldnt have any problems

    EDIT:
interesting...never knew that, guess I got lucky =P

well as far as the whitelisted cards, how would i check that. and adding the extra antenna is for signal strength and higher speed although i have heard that it will work with 2 antennas but it is much slower than all 3.

HP has a whitelist on cards that dont come with HP systems. Your best bet would be a intel 4965 that came with an HP system. http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-Intel-4965-A...yZ101281QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This would work but you would need to add an extra antenna to your system. Well you dont have too but you would be losing out on some speed or range im not really sure. It cant be that much though because the intel 5100 card dosent even come with 3 antenna's and it works fine.
