Wich cpu is faster in 1.Duo Processor T2500 2.0Ghz 2.Intel Pentium 4 processor 520 with HT Technology 2.8Ghz. Wich of these two are faster to take adavatge of gaming. Wow, that's not even close. The 2GHz Core Duo will be much, much faster. Much much much much much faster. In gaming, in general Windows performance, in everything. The P4 has a horrible architecture for gaming, and the 520 is made even worse because the 5xx series lacks 64-bit support. Not to mention the Core DUos better battery life.

Oh yeah, and the zd8000 (which I'm pretty sure you're looking at with that P4) actually has a 256MB x600, which is far, far worse than the x1600; about 1/3 to 1/2 as powerful.

Thank You Lowlymarine, wow you hit it right in the nose. Thats true i was looking at the zd8000 and im also looking at the nx9420 from hp. Now lowlymarine one more questions how decent is the 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7400 video card for gaming with a dou cpu. I know its a mid-end video card but is it worth spending $1300 for the laptop.

    it's not that good
worse than its equivalent ATI x1400
expect less than half the performance of the x1600

There's the Acer Travelmate 8204WLMi with a 256MB x1600, 2.0GHz Core Duo, and a whopping 2GB of RAM...but it's quite steep (over $2000 I believe). if you can wait a month or so, there will be the Turion-powered MSI 1039, alsow ith 256MB x1600, which should be about $1600 with a decent processor and 1GB of RAM.

You failed to tell us if you want a truly mobile laptop or a desk top replacement, If you get a desk top replacement then the Athlon 64fx or the athlon X2 (see alienware)is the obvious choice but if you want a laptop you can really carry around and use then until the Turion X2 comes out I would say the duo core. Get an Alienware while ya still can I have a feeling Dull will destroy that company quickly.

Get a what while you can? Are you on drugs? No no no, do not get an Alienware computer. Way overpriced, even though the specs are great.

What you were looking at before sounds fine, or wait for the W3J, portable, yet powerful as hell.

I'm guessing the Duo Core processor would be faster and far more responsive. Acer have auite a good DuoCore laptop range
