Hi. I'm customizing a Laptop - Sony Vaio Serie C. My big question is: wich processor do I take? i3 or i5? (the difference in the price is $80)
I'll use it for normal tasks as surfing the web, checking e-mails, watching movies and series, accessing social networks, making ppt presentations and playing games like The Sims 3 (in fact, I think this is the only i'll play).
The graphic card is an AMD Radeon 6630 1Gb.
My other doubt is about the screen resolution (1366 x 768 or 1600 x 900).
I'm afraid of choosing for the best screen resolution and in the end, not seeing any difference. At the same way is my doubt about the processor, choosing for something that is too much for me and never using all its capacity. But at the same time, having a simpler processor that could be not enough.
Sorry for my poor english, I'm Brazilian. Hope anyone can help me!

Keep the i3, for your needs the i5 is overkill.
I'd get the higher res 1600x900, you can fit much more on screen.
You will see a difference with the better screen, you won't notice any difference in performance with the i5. -
tilleroftheearth Wisdom listens quietly...
i3 vs. i5 does not mean anything. What specific cpu's are we talking about?
I agree to go with the higher resolution screen - as long as your eyesight is normal and you're talking about anything bigger than a 13.3" screen size.
Even without knowing the specific cpu's... for $80 I would easily go for the 'better' cpu option - (how much is the total system worth and how long do you plan on keeping it?).
For that small investment now, you could postpone getting a new system by up to two years or more (once it becomes time to replace this one in two or three years) and still be productive enough to have the luxury of waiting for the next (at that time) big 'platform' upgrade.
Good luck. -
Intel Core i3 does hyper threading, but not turbo boosting.
The i5 does turbo boosting too, but i dont even think you would need that with the specified usage you mentioned.
A better screen is more useful i think.
Wich processor is the best for me?
