My hard drive has been locked windows up a couple times in the last few days, but works fine most of the time. It failed multiple smart tests, so I'm going to get it rma'd.

My question is will Acronis will be able to make an image of it on the replacement drive since it's on its way out? If it won't work I won't spend $10 on an external enclosure.

When I tested it a few weeks ago, no bad sectors came up despite a smart status warning at the time. The situation is probably different now.

If it works fine most of the times Acronis will be able to clone it.
