I have a sony vgn-n130g notebook that uses 2X512 PC2-4200 Ram, and I'm wanting to upgrade to 2X1 PC24200, but the price for PC2-4200 is much higher than PC2-5300 therefore I was wondering, if i buy PC2-5300 Ram module will it downclock to a PC2-4200 speeds? (again PC2-4200 is more expensive than PC2-5300)

Yes it will last I recall.
And yea, PC5300 is cheaper then PC4200, I've also been looking for an upgrade for RAM, and the prices are stupid -
wow that was a fast reply thanks! Does anybody know why is PC2-4200 more expensive than PC-5300?

sesshomaru Suspended Disbelief!
Simple.. Now more manufacturers have shifted to 5300. A result of skewed demand and supply. I'm still using a P4 1.5G, and it takes SDRAM. The prices are INSANE. Still, not as bad as my even older P4. That one takes RDRAM. I don't even dare think of upgrading it's RAM. It'd easier to buy another desktop.....

Will PC2-5300 downclock to PC2-4200?
