Will Peneryn start being sold in current notebooks like Merom started out in Yonah notebooks? If so, will they work in Napa notebooks or only Santa Rosa? And if I were to buy a Santa Rosa notebook today, would I be able to upgrade to a Peneryn CPU, or would it require a bigger hardware change that I don't have resources for?

I can guarantee Penryn will not show up in current Napa based notebooks.

Napa is the chipset prior to Santa Rosa. That said, Napa is being phased out for Santa Rosa now.

With that in mind, from what I've read regarding Penryn, it may work with the current Santa Rosa... because Intel is planning to do a refresh on Santa Rosa down the line (early 2008?). This refresh/update to Santa Rosa is supposed to be based on the mobile Penryn. So if Penryn is to be used for the refresh of Santa Rosa, it may possibly work on current notebooks based Santa Rosa... just may need a bios update like how most Napa based notebooks that came with Yonah could also use Merom.
