NO problem. At least 667.

Should work. But what is the model no. ?
PM/GM965 officially support upto 4GB DDR2-667 SODIMM. (DDR2-800 will downclock to DDR2-677)
And you need a 64-bit OS (i.e. Vista 64) to address the whole 4GB RAM. -
Model number is VGN-FZ11Z, Sorry
-
Sony says 2GB Max. Probably BIOS Limitation.
So, 4GB Gamble. (Search in the Sony Forum for similar upgrades) -
Yeah, with a 2GB Max, you wont be able to upgrade...
Well, you could try, but you might end up wasting your money... -
Never seen this scenario, so i'll ask.
My notebook is also a vaio, sony says 2GB max, intel says 4GB max.
And if i open up everest ultimate or anything else that reads the motherboards nb-chipset limitations it says 4GB max.
What's true? I know alot about ram in general, but nothing about this.
See picture, it says 4GB max.Attached Files:

The i945PM physically supports upto 4GB. But sometimes manufacturers either forget to provide support for 2GB modules, or lock-down the BIOS to 1GB per slot. Everest/PC Wizard have kinda pre-coded info regarding each NB controller (chipset). But they can't read what is coded into the BIOS.
Similiarly, the GM/PM965 support upto 8GB, but 4GB officially A.T. Intel. -
I see Andy, just what i thought, thanks
Anyhow i bought 2x2GB of ram for a very cheap price so i'll see if it works out or not, just curious
hehe, i don't think it'll work, but i can always hope! -
Also checkout the BIOS updates for your notebook.
(Flashing BIOSs is risky !!) -
I've already updated to the latest one (though it's from 2007/05
Kinda old.
If you where speaking to me.
