Friend is selling his old 2gb G.Skill ram for 25 bucks. DDR2 533.. The one with the heat spreader.
My current laptop is using 2x Kingston 512 DDR 333. Would the above ram work?
-
-
Probably not. What is your laptop make and model?
-
No
__________ -
No it will not. DDR and DDR2 have different physical shapes, getting the wrong kind won't physically fit into your laptop.
-
Ok, thanks!

Depends on what size mallet you use...
Lithus was correct in the response. -
My laptop states 2gb max. Can I go 3gb?

Not likely if that's what it says. What kinda laptop?
-
the largest DDR sodimm memory modules are 1Gb.
Your system has two memory slots, thus 2Gb is the maximum for the memory capacity.
And just to clarify, DDR2 is not compatible with your system.
DDR memory is much more expensive, usually around $60 per gb.
Its worth it, cause it performs better than most ddr2 memory.

" Crucial 1GB 200-Pin DDR SO-DIMM DDR 333 (PC 2700) Laptop Memory - Retail " $27.99 ea. Free 3-7 Business Day Shipping
It's what I plan on getting for mine. -
Wow the prices came down quite a bit. Its a shame I bought 4 1GB Corsair Pc3200 sodimm cards when they were on sale for $109.99 each from Zipzoomfly.

In the news they are saying even ddr prices should continue to fall. Check out the ddr400 prices at newegg. I love that place! Between a new hdd and 2gb of ram I won't break $150.

haha. omg. I Just downlaoded CPUID and found out the my laptop is DDR2 ***? haha i'm a freaking idiot.
-
Then go ahead and buy any DDR2 SO-DIMM for your laptop, aslong as it's maximum 1GB per stick. Speed doesn't mather as it will downclock if nesessary and in most cases use faster timings if you get faster modules than standard.
Will a DDR2 ram work on my laptop? Currently using DDR 333
