    Will a T9600 work in my sig?

    I was trying too apply termal grease to my laptop and I had accidently poured grease on the cpu and now its no good.Grease is one top and bottom. :( But will a T9600 work instead.

    T9600 will not work. T9500 will, though. Of course, you could just clean off the grease...

    I had thought that the paste was suppose to go on to the cpu.But now i know.I looked uped how to remove it but is it safe to put alcohol on the mainboard and cpu?

    you should try cleaning it before buying a new CPU
    I've heard using a bit of rubbing alcohol is good for removing thermal paste/grease, correct me if I'm wrong of course ;)

    Will there be a significant increase in performance between a T8300 and T9300?

    Depends upon the tasks you run. If a software stress the T8300 to 100% on all cores, then you'll notice some boost in performance when running those apps with a T9300.

    Yes, the paste should be on the CPU core.

    And yes, it's safe.

    From what you are saying you may have damaged more than just the CPU.
    I agree with the others. Try cleaning the thermal paste with alcohol and see if that resolves the problem. Did you get thermal grease in the socket on the system board? Try cleaning that as well with alcohol and let dry before use.
