Hey, i've recently bought a new Dell Studio 1745 (might be the 1747, not too sure) and wondering if the Motherboard/components will be compatible for a processor upgrade at a later date should i want it. Such as a T6600 or P7450.

    Current specs are:
    Pentium Dual Core T4300, 2.1ghz, 800mhz, 1mb L2 cache.
    4GB 1333mhz DDR3 RAM
    320Gb hard drive, etc etc

Not sure on chipset yet, will keep looking. Will say if i find it :)

here's a link should it be needed

    3rd from left.

    Thanks :)

Fairly certain all 1745 (it can't be a 1747 because those are i7 machines) ship with a 45-Series chipset. You should be able to use any 35W TDP Socket P processor, including the T6600 and P7450. Quads and Extremes may work, but it's almost always a crapshot.
