Hi all. I just picked up a dell m1530 laptop. Now it used to be that having a dedicated sound card in a desktop system would increase your system performance a bit because it was taking work away from the CPU. I'm not sure how true that is anymore with integrated sound cards on motherboards. I'm even less sure about how it works for a laptop as this will be my first one.
Will getting an expresscard soundblaster for my laptop increase performance over the "integrated soundblaster audigy?" I'm sure it will give me better sound, but will it actually have an effect on performance by removing some work? Sorry if I'm completely off on this, it's been years since I put a system together.
Thanks

working from an external device is usually slower. It will still use the CPU

Express card has the chip but no processing power so as ff side does not take load off CPU.
Will an expresscard soundblaster increase performance?
