I just ordered a new dell and im having some reservation about a couple decisions. Here it is:

    Inspiron E1505, Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5500 (2MB/1.66GHz/667MHz) 15.4 Inch TrueLife Wide-screenWXGA
    512MB, DDR2, 533MHz 1 Dimm
128MB ATI MOBILITY RADEON X1300 HyperMemory
    80GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, English without Media
    8X DVD+/-RW Drive
    Dell Wireless 1390 802.11b/g Mini Card (54Mbps)
53 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery
Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth Module (2.0 + EDR)

I know I got a good deal.... $840 with tax.

My question is if 512MB of RAM is enough and how much will the core 2 duo make up for lack of RAM and if I could upgrade to 1GB cheaply?

The second is should I have gotten the ATI 1400X for $70 more?

Yes, 1gb is standard, you should upgrade that. The Core Duo has nothing to do with the RAM.

Yes, I would, its worth it to get twice the video card power.

You can upgrade to 1GB from www.newegg.com
Just search for notebook memory, 533MHz DDR2 SO-DIMM's. Pick your price range and poison (probably just a single 512MB stick, because that will give you 1GB total).

I just did the search for you: Anything in this list.

The video card, if you can get that upgraded, I would. The X1300 will work for basic things, and is much better than the Intel graphics, but you won't like playing Oblivion on it.

Im not a huge gamer but I do watch a lot of videos and dvds on my laptop so I think the 1300x should be enough. The memory I think I do need to upgrade thanx. Will it void my warranty if I get it installed by someone else besides dell?

What do you guys think about the price? I think I got a great deal though.
