    As in will I ever be able to buy a packaged one from newegg or somewhere and not someone from ebay?

    I don't know of any Intel CPU that hasn't been sold as a retail processor.

    After all, why would not they sell it alone? I am sure there will be lots of people who would like to upgrade their CPUs.

    Actually, there are OEM-only models. I think the i5-4x0M's are all only sold to OEMs.

    Because sometimes selling OEM only means Intel can make already a crap ton of money by forcing people spending 200-300 extra up front rather than only selling a few hundred @ 400 at retail pricing.
