When I turn up the brightness of my notebook lcd up to max will it have any problems in the long run? Like screen getting darker faster, shorter life?

you'll wear out the backlight faster, but I'm not sure how large the impact will be.

I leave mine at half brightness just so thats its not as hard on my eyes.
Maybe a few years later, the screen is a tiny bit darker, but since you use it almost everyday, you won't notice. Like when I have it on half power, it bright enough for me, but if i turn it up and back down you can notice the difference a lot.

Yeah, like mine. When I view my screen everyday, I hardly notice a difference in brightness. But, when I put it next to a brand spankin new laptop I do notice that mine is significantly darker.

Leave it at max all you want if you like it bright. By the time your screen begins to noticeably darken it will be time to upgrade to a new laptop anyway.

Yes, but probably not cheaply unless you do it yourself.

The only real "problem" you'll possibly encounter, IMO, by turning up brightness, is that you'll lose a few minutes from each charge.

Well sure your backlight with be used more, but them have a relative long life time anyway. I have brightness on the max all the time on my laptop. Used it over 1.5 year now and i dont see any diffrent. In 2002 i have bought a 15" desktop TFT monitor, used it alot, and it is still in use with my friends old desktop for office use and i dont see any brightness problem with it. So i dont think you need to be wory about that unless you are planing to use your laptop 24/7 for 10 years or something like that :D
