    Will this RAM work in acer 5112?

    I am about to buy 2x1Gig ram for my acer 5112 laptop. I have found out that i need 200pin 667ddr2 ram-and here comes my question-what is the diference between PC2 5300 and PC2 5400 modules? will any of this work? another question is can i buy 2x2Gig - becuse i have read that this may cause that my laptop will detect those as 3.5Gig module.

    5300 and 5400 are the same. If the MoBo supports 4GB memory then yes you can install even though 32 bit OS will only see 3GB to 3.5GB's.

    after installing 4gig will it perform as 4gig or 3gig? :) (i use win xp)

    It will only use what it can address, 3GB to 3.5GB's, but should match up what it does see so as to run in "true" Daul Channel.

    so 4gig is not worth the money ill go for 2x1gig

    4Gb is not worth it if you are using 32bit windows, however if you had a 64bit copy then 4Gb could be fully used.
