Will upgrading a processor reduce the fan RPM?

I have an Intel E5200 Dual Core processor on a Sony all-in-one computer. It is a hybrid notebook desktop computer.

Whenever I play the Mahjong Titans (the game that comes with Windows 7), the fan runs at a high RPM. When Windows boots, it is at 2150 RPM. After playing Mahjong Titans for about an hour, the RPM goes to about 3,300 and the fan is loud. It always happens.

The temperature of the cores remain at 36 and 38 degrees.

If I upgrade the processor to an E7400 Core 2 Duo, will that processor not heat up as much as the E5200 when playing Mahjong Titans and consequently lower the fan RPM?

The temperature of the cores remain at 36 and 38 degrees.

The graphics card is a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD. I was told that could cause the fan to run at a high RPM. Could Mahjong Titans which is a 3D game be too much for the x4500 to handle? Would a dedicated GPU solve the problem?

I am not looking for any other solutions. I have tried everything else imagineable.

It will generate similar heat, as the two processors are both 65W 45nm Wolfdales. Besides, those are decent load temps.

Luck of the draw really. A later core from better die proccessing may yeild an overall cooler chip or you could get one that is worse. I can tell you my original P8400 would idle and under load run about 10C higher than the subsequent P9600 ES that replaced it with ICD on both. This even though the P8400 was 2.26 GHz and the P9600 was 2.66 Ghz............

The fan is obviously screaming to keep the rather low temps. Unless there is a BIOS option/update to change it's parameters (which could make it run hotter), there is probably not much you can do

You have desktop components stuffed in behind a monitor, it is either going to be hot or noisy.......

Sony locks the BIOS. I was told it is diffiuclt to get into. I will contact MH.

The cores remain at 36 and 38. If I had them at say 58 degrees, would that be ok? I would rather have a quieter computer with hotter cores.

I would not want it that high under load in that confined space for long periods of time, perhaps start small and see what happens. The cpu could handle it, but the rest of the integrated components may not like it.
