I'm doing a clean install for my x201 with a new SSD (OCZ Vertex2) with Win7. However, the OS DIDN'T "understood" that I have SSD and left the defrag enabled.... I KNOW how to disable it, but why did it to that?

I'm not sure, but I had the same problem with my X25-M, the first one. Upon getting a replacement, for other reasons, Win7 finally saw that I had an SSD.

I've had it many times. I wouldn't worry about it.

Yep, same here. Win7 has always left defrag enabled for me. Or automatic..

    Weird.

Windows 7 determines whether or not you have an SSD by querying SMART and asking for the rotational speed of the drive. If the drive returns a value of "0" then it assumes you have an SSD.

Maybe, for whatever weird reason, your drive isn't returning a value of "0". In any case, it's not a big deal. Just manually disable Defrag, and be on your merry way.

for me it turned defrag off.. its quite simple to turn it off... just type disk defragmenter... just click schedule and turn it off for SSD..
