I just purchased a Corsair Force 3 Series 240gb SSD. I have an m11xr2 that I'm trying to install it on, and am having difficulties due to it being my first time. Here are the steps I have taken so far.

    1. Unplug machine from power source.
    2. Open laptop and unplug battery.
    3. Unscrew Hard drive bay, and remove old HDD.
    4. Put in SSD on Hard drive bay, and screw in to install.
    5. Plug in battery, and close laptop.
    6. Plug machine into a power source.
    7. Plug in External Disk Drive (USB).
    8. Turn on machine and put Windows 7 CD in external CD drive.

From there is where I get errors.

I checked the BIOS and my system is set to AHCI, my OC is off, my boot order is set to CD/DVD - HDD - Network. I always have issues when dealing with the boot drive. It seems like they always have problems or die on me. I made sure to be extra careful and not touch any pins. The SSD is also detected as Corsair Force 3 240gb SSD.

I'm excited to use this SSD, but I'm disappointed with the error I'm receiving. Can anyone assist me? I can log onto hotmail if necessary.

EDIT: Aha! After setting the SATA to ATA instead of AHCI, then rebooting, the option to change the boot order changed from HDD to Corsair Force 3 SSD. I moved this to the second option, under CD/DVD drive, and then rebooted once again. The computer booted up straight from the external disk drive and is now installing Windows 7. Phew!

Glad you got it to install... however, I would not be happy with an IDE storage mode for a new/current SSD.

I would be still be looking to install it in AHCI mode.

    Good luck.

Thanks, I was able to set it to AHCI mode after following some instructions. I'm currently installing drivers onto it, and doing windows update. It seems my Graphics driver won't install until the integrated intel graphics driver is installed first. :p
