I have 17inch hp dv9548ca with dual 160 Gig TOSHIBA MK1637GSX hard drives, with maximum operating temperature of 55 degrees Celsius.

I often leave my laptop on for extended periods on windows vista power-save mode. I have noticed that when i usually return to my laptop the hard drive temperature is very high 50 degrees Celsius and above. This problem doesn't exists when the laptop is left in the high performance or balanced modes.

Any idea why this is happening?
