Okay about a week or so ago my optical drive just stopped working in XP but then when I boot into Vista everything works perfectly. When I go to the Device Manager it says the status was "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
I tried uninstallingand reinstalling and stil didn't work.

Go into Device Manager, ATA / ATAPI Controllers, and try uninstalling whichever IDE channel has a current transfer mode of either Ultra DMA 2 or PIO, then redetect the hardware.
