    Hello
I've noticed that during 1m usage of my acer1410 that sticker lost its shiny view and seems that its just beginning. Am i the only user who met that problem (guess no :D ), and what methods do you use to protect it? And, finally, what will happen if i'll loose it completely?

You mean the Windows 7 sticker on your laptop's chassis? I didn't think anybody truly cared about it, lol. Why does it really matter if it gets a bit smudged, you can just clean it.

If it happens to get too bad, just buy another. And nothing happens if it get's lost, except the owner may die a little inside. The only thing that I can think of to protect it, is to put a bit of sticky take over the top... Not very attractive, I know, but if you really want to keep it, then, that's your only option.

It's useful to keep--especially with an oem install without a dvd.

the OEM installed windows using ITS key--that does not match the key on your machine.

If you need to replace your harddrivein the future, you will need the key on the sticker.

So, yes, try and preserve it. I've used various things in the past--essentially have tape

Write the key down, or take a picture of the sticker and save it somewhere you won't forget (NOT on the computer that the sticker belongs to).

My mistake. I thought he meant the blue Windows 7 sticker on the palmrest.

Even if you put sticky tape over the bottom sticker, where the product key is, you're not going to see it, so it doesn't really matter.

Oh, is that the one he meant! Yeah, same deal, just put a bit of sticky over the top, and write the key down somewhere you won't forget, and no one else can find.

I have mine written in a .doc file, that I can view either 1) on my computer, or 2) on my HTC Touch Pro 2, that way, if my entire drive dies (Lord help if that happens) then I won't lose the key.

As for the "Designed for Windows 7" sticker, I carefully moved it ABOVE the keyboard, where my palms won't rest on it and ruin it.
Also, I've NEVER taped the CD Key on the bottom of laptops (and my friends haven't either) and in 15 years, we've NEVER had an issue with not being able to see it.

It's pretty useless on my Dell. Any Dell Windows install disk will install on any Dell hardware. Installing any other windows that didn't come with the laptop and isn't a Dell disk should come with its own code anyway as well. I'm not positive about other manufacturers, as I've only ever installed separate retail and oem versions on them, but the license code may be just as useless on them. Maybe someone else can chime in.
