    Will all or any of those work with a older Gateway Solo 5300?
    It has a PC card things on the side, but idk if there are diffrent versions of the card slot or what ever... so yea,

    Looks like you have 2 PCMCIA card slots. All above except #2 say PCMCIA. What OS do you have?

    Then yes the PCMCIA cards should work fine.

    Oh no! Only 90 mi that is too close. For most things I have dealt with. I would of been concerned about 98 and below. 2000 and above works for most things. I have as of yet not seen Vista only hardware. So with XP I feel relatively safe.

    software compatibility is not the problem, it is hardware. Is there a difrence between the slot on my old jank laptop and the one on my dad's new laptop? or are the slots the same?

    I first looked up PCMCIA looks like you have two (type I and II even 1 one type III whatever that is). What hardware issue would you have? A PCMCIA is a PCMCIA? As a USB 2.0 is a USB 2.0? So then we move to software. XP no problem. #2 might work just does not say PCMCIA, if Express card will not work. I don't know what it is either way.

    PCMCIA= works.
