I'm not too educated on things like this but my son has a Toshiba A210 and I don't think it has bluetooth, can he hookup a wireless keyboard to the laptop and if so what exactly does he need to do this? Thanks!

Most wireless keyboards come with a bluetooth usb dongle so all he has to do is plug that into a usb port and get the computer to recognize the new hardware.

The majority of wireless keyboards are probably still on the old technology, where it comes with its own usb reciever/dongle. Those that are bluetooth may come with one like Bchen06 said as well, but it wont be required if you buy yourself an internal bluetooth card, or happen to have a bluetooth dongle you prefer.

Once you find a keyboard that interest you (try to get hands on with some at a local store like best buy) then you can look and see if it comes with the required equipment, and if not then come back to ask for what exactly you can use for it.

Also you may be interested in knowing if the laptop he has does indeed have bluetooth or not. The best way to know that would be your device manager in windows.

Go into the windows control panel and go to "system" and then "device manager" you will see it listed in there if it is installed.

So would something like this work I found at newegg: Logitech 967561-0403 Black 102 Normal Keys 12 Function Keys USB + PS/2 Cordless Standard Desktop EX110 Mouse Included - Retail
Special savings, ends 5/26, $26.99 with 3 free day shipping

He doesn't need a mouse but seems like a pretty good deal if it will work.

er, it would be best if you linked to the product page directly but I will go look it up and see.

    Yeah it works: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126174&Tpk=Logitech+967561-0403

Its wireless via the old tech (I have no clue what to call it right now) honestly the old technology may be better for wireless keyboard/mice they do not have the same issues bluetooth has, the only one up bluetooth has in my opinion is that you do not need a dongle if you have a built in card.

I really like my wireless keyboard. I bought an HP desktop that came with a wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Ended up chucking the mouse (err putting it in storage) because the batteries didn't last long enough. Gaming would just eat them away but the batteries in my wireless keyboard last for a long time.

I think the response time is a bit slow though because the keyboard doesn't seem to register my strokes all the time but meh. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

Nice little gift, I know I'd appreciate it if I didn't have already.
