I do a fair bit of file transfering and streaming across my network, what would be a good wireless 'N' card to replace the stock Emachine e525 'G' with?

If it's a modern laptop it will use mini PCI express, and you can use any wifi card. I like my Intel 4965 AGN wifi card. They can be bought for about 40-50 bucks.

It's funny you mention that card, cause I just pulled out my gateway laptop that I replace the screen on and was going to sell and lo and behold it has the Intel 4965AGN dual band wifi card in it. It's now running in my emachine and the Broadcom on is in the gateway, gotta love free upgrades!

Buy a antenna off eBay and mount it somewhere in the base or lid. I personally would sell the 4965 and buy an Intel 5100(2 antenna). But, some people have problems with the 5100(as per the networking section of this site), but both of the 5100's in my Asus G50 and G51 worked GREAT.
