Alright so i need some help understanding wireless cards.
So the one I'll be getting states "up to 450Mbps".
Now it'll get that high off of any router or it needs a high-end type router?
Like the laptop I'm on now, Its getting 54.0Mbps sitting right next to the router, so in other words thats the most possible for this.
Now is that the routers maximum or the wireless card in this laptop?
This is a like 6year old Sony Vaio K-series.
    Thank you.

If your using a normal 802.11g router then you will just max out at 54 Mbps.
But you know...its not gonna make your internet any faster...

    Yeah I'm using 802.11g.
So how do you get a faster connection?
Have comcast highspeed blah blah but this laptop seems to load pages slowly.
Possibly the low-spec processor and what not? 2.8 single core pentium 4...

Also by the way. Lately my modem's Online Light has been flashing.
Like it flashes and the internet stops working on all computers in the house.
Than it goes back on by itself. Sometimes taking 2minutes, sometimes taking 4hours.
    What could be causing this?
(All the other lights are working fine, Power, Send, Receive, Etc.)

Well, since you said your laptop loads pages slowly, it is most likely a problem with your laptop instead of your internet. I've never heard of a wireless card slowing down someone's internet, but it could be possible, usually it's a result of some incorrect setting or spyware/malware stuff.

It could be just your modem I think, I had a similar issue with my old modem..disconnects randomly and I called up my provider and sent me a new one, no problems since. I'm just speculating...could be a number of things lol...maybe a reset could fix things?

Yeah I'm guessing its the specs of this laptop. Pretty old.

I'll have to try buying a new modem since this one is as old as this laptop.
If I just bought a new one and hooked it up to the cables would it work just like that or would I have to go through the hassle of calling provider up and having them register it and everything again?

Turns out the spliter out side of my house went bad from a storm. And wasn't giving the modem a strong enough cable signal.
Sorry for posting in this semi-dead thread.
    Just posting the problem :p
