Hey, buying a new laptop soon. I'm getting an HP dv5t. Just wondering if 3GB of RAM and the NVIDIA 9200GS offered by HP on the dv5t would be enough for gaming? Also, I would be getting a 2.0 GHz processor. I know that's on the low side but will I need more? I don't need it to be able to play games like crisis or call of duty at full settings but I would like to play some games. My friend is trying to convince me to play diablo 3 whenever it comes out. Should I go with 4 GB of RAM or will 3GB of RAM be substantial for the 64 bit vista? Also, will the 9200 GS allow me to play some games? Could I get away with playing the games with the integrated graphics (I'm doubting this)?

Thanks and if this is not the correct section of the forums, please direct me to where I need to be.

You won't be doing much gaming with the 9200GS, it might run but you'll probably have to turn everything down.

Pay a little more and get 9600GT. You'll able to run more games on higher settings.

4GB is a good idea with Vista 64. Upgrading the memory yourself might save you money.

The 2.0Ghz CPU is enough for games.

Upgrading the hard drive yourself to 320GB/7200rpm costs about $80 and gives a nice boost in loading games and applications and overall responsiveness. You can sell the original hard drive to get some money back.

Realistically buying a notebook with anything ranked lower than the top 1/3 of these GPU's the less and less you'll enjoy your gaming experience and if you can try to get into the top 20%. I wouldn't even buy a machine for playing with anything less than a 9600 GT and I'd still want better if I could afford it.

I agree with guys above. Invest some more money in better GPU, GeForce 9600GT in your case, you will feel large performance boost while gaming and the price you are paying for it is not big. With GeForce 9200GS your gaming experience will be rather bad and everything but enjoyable. Maybe you can get 2GB of RAM memory in the first place and rest of money invest into 9600GT.

4GB of RAM memory is useless unless you go with 64-bit Vista.
