    I have a question.

I like multitasking and the games I wanna play are Far Cry 2, Rainbow 6, Warhammer 40K, COD 5, Frontline: Fuels of war, BF 2, America's Army 3. Those are the games im looking to play.

    And i have a choice between a processor Q9000 2.00GHz or T9400 2.53GHz.

Tell me, does it really make a difference which one I choose? If I have a good graphics card then can I just choose which ever CPU I want from those two?

Im looking for advise :) thank you

For gaming, your biggest bottleneck will be your GPU, and I don't think either of those processors are going to bottleneck even the best mobile graphics solutions out there at the moment. Furthermore, afaik, most games still favor fewer, faster cores as opposed to more, slower cores. The T9400 should suffice for most multitasking scenarios as well.

As such I'd vote for the T9400; the Q9000 seems to be a bit overkill here.

ah..ok..so u believe q9000 is overkill..but like..if it were the same price? Would it make a difference tho?

    Thanks :)

Any other opinions on the matter?

Likewise, because gaming is largely GPU limited, I don't think you'd see too much of a performance difference between the Q9000 and T9400. Even at the same price, the Q9000 will produce significantly more heat; I'd almost consider it more of a liability if you aren't really making use of all four cores.

Q9000 hands down. In the future games will only grow to support quad core's

That's true, but future games will require more powerful graphics too. In this case, I'd go for the T9400. It will be useful in day to day work, and as Commander Wolf said, I doubt either CPU would be a bottleneck in those games.

Out of curiosity, what GPU will this come with?

    itll come with a:

nVidia Geforce 280M GTX for the 17"

    and a

nVidia Geforce 260M GTX for the 15.4"

so...futureproof wont be a benefit with a quad core with a lower frequency?
