I know you can install modified gaming drivers to work on a Quadro card (ex 1600M -> 8700GT), but can you do the opposite?

Yes, there is a thread about doing it with HD 2600 and getting very good results. One limitation at least on NVidia is some hardware functions disabled on gaming card. Drivers can't fix that.

I am pretty sure you can, but you need to be very careful, flashing your gpu's bios is dangerous and can destroy your graphics card if done wrong.
