... I removed the 5400 rpm HDD that came with my laptop and replaced it with one that is 7200 rpm? Is there some kind of power issue that I should be concerned with? Anything else I should worry about with such an upgrade?

    Thanks.

No, you should be absolutely fine, apart from violating your warranty, of course. The 7200 RPM drive is likely to produce a bit more heat too, but shouldn't draw any noticeable amount of power vs. your existing one.

Hard drives are user replaceable parts, they wont void your warranty as long as you do it right.

    No problem at all :)

I've done this operation on my laptop, as well as on my previous one :) It is a noticeable performance upgrade, very easy to do and worth it :)

Nothing to fear ;) Just make sure you choose a fast 7200. I can recommend you the Hitachi 7K500.

With modern drives there is hardly a difference in heat between a 7200 rpm and 5400 rpm drive. Maybe back 3-4 years ago.
