If it's a 6 year old dell laptop I would say it probably should... but if it is a desktop, then you would need a PCI to PCMCIA adapter to use the card. If you do not have one already it would probably be easier (and cheaper) to just buy a PCI card.

tabbed out is right. wireless is somewhat of a rarity in desktop computers and most wireless cards are for laptops, including that one.
you have a few options actually, other than the converter. but first you should make sure you get the right type of card for your type of wireless network, even though it is most likely the most common kind.
nowadays, there is G wireless and N wireless most often.
you probably have nothing to worry about if your wireless router says its wireless N or G. they are probably both much faster than your actual internet connection so dont bother getting an N wireless card unless you want to access other computers and files on the network, it will do this faster, but not if you dont have a wireless n router.
if you have a wireless B or A router, however, then you should make sure you get a card that can deal with it. the card you are looking at only has b and g.
N routers broadcast g as well though, so you dont need an n card for one.
as far as how it connects to your computer, you can get a pci card like this one:

make sure its not mini pci.
you can also get a usb card, which is probably easier though more expensive. it will also work with laptops.
