Hello,
I'm looking for a not THAT expensive laptop but great for gaming. So I think i found one with an awesome gfx card for its price range ( 1130 ) but I'm having some serious doubts about the cpu...:
MSI GT683DX:
15,6 inch 1920 x 1080 pixels
Processor Intel Core i5-2410m dual core 2.3ghzs lacking qm here? )
RAM 6 GB SO-DIMM DDR3-1333 1x4 GB + 1x2 GB (4 slots up to 16)
500 GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX570M 1536 MB
Would I fail to play some nice games in the futures because of the CPU here?
Or any other remarks I should into consideration?
tyvm for yr time![]()

I'd be more worried about the GPU not being fast enough :3
Most games are GPU limited and won't show much of a difference between a Core i5 and a i7, but if you plan on doing more than just gaming, a faster CPU will help useful life.
What game are you looking at exactly? -
atm I only play mmo's (lotro atm) all on low/very low spec's as i play with Inspiron 6400 with X1300 integrated card 0.o
Guess when I buy a machine for 1100€ I'd like to play all recent games very smooth at most specs ( high pref. )
Had to abandon Entropia Universe ( Cry Engine 2 ) -
Would a Dell xps 3GB NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 555M ( or less gb - read not much diff ) with a i7-2670 run most games better then above one?
Just an example of what to find on same price ---- SOOOOO many choises for a noobie like me to decide lol
Could u explain a bit more about the gpu u told about? Don't really get it all sry -
Now if only I knew more about games... -doesn't play them much anymore-
You should be fine with the MMO's since they usually make those to lower minimum requirements so they can get the most amount of people playing them. I can tell you even as is, the new computer will be like a flight of stairs up compared to your old one.
Edit: probably slower due to the lower GPU. And most people don't like double posting.. -
Btw, I'm looking for a high end gfx card so I dont need to play other -none mmo lower req's- on low specs... so this would be a fail setup I guess. Would the "third post setup" be better?
Edit: sry for the double post -
The gtx570m is in a different league than the gt555m. See the following;

The gpu is the processor on your graphics card. Generally the graphics card is the "weakest link" or "bottleneck" in gaming performance. Long story short, DO NOT DOWNGRADE YOUR GRAPHICS CARD.
-
But would the i5-2410 cripple the awesome mobile 570 vs an qmi7-2630 let's say with a 555m? It all still confuses me... (I only need to game with the laptop, so I thought the gfx card could be high end, cpu i5 would do?)
If people say the gpu won't be fast enough with the 570m what does that mean exactly?
Edt: Ah I see U already answered that meanwhile, sad thing just received mail from the shop, that kind of laptop isn't available anymore - there goes a 2 days search lol
- ofc site still says it does ^^ ty laptopshop

i5-2410m+gtx570M>>>>>>>>>>>>>i7-2630qm+gtx555M, in gaming world, at least. CPU matters little in the mass majority of the games, video card is what bottlenecks modern games in most cases. 570M is a high end card while 555M is only belongs to the mid-range, so 570M all the way.
Also keep in mind that graphic card is NOT upgradable in most laptops, and that makes you want to get the best card you can afford. CPUs, on the contrary, usually can be upgraded. If you are unsatisfied with your CPU performance, you can always upgrade it later down the road and by then price of higher CPUs will drop too. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Ya that MSI is a good deal. When I was looking at a 17" DTR, it was a reasonable 950 for a 570M, and a 1080p matte LCD with an i5.
Worst case, if you find the i5 bottlenecking the 570M, you can easily upgrade the CPU vs a GPU upgrade that may or may not be doable/feasible. -
Think I found something better: ( do hope so finally)

Yup...that's a lot better 'bang for buck'.
Quads are more or less a 'standard' today, so you would do well to get that...
And while most games ARE in fact gpu bound, more and more are starting to rely on a multicore CPU as well. -

That laptop looks much better, agreed.
The first laptop you were looking at with the Core i5-2410M dual-core - that is a decent processor but for a gaming notebook, it makes sense to get a quad-core. The i7-2670QM is far, far faster.
Do you have a link to that second laptop?
Would this laptop be a FAIL?
