    Would this spec suffice?

Hi everyone, I'm a professional photographer (yes, an actual-7-year-properly-trained-one) and I can easily process between 1000 and 10,000 shots (depending on what's needed) using Photoshop CC... I know Lightroom/other software is probably better for such vast amounts, but I know Photoshop inside out already.
When I've got down time, when it's too late for the neighbours for me to start playing guitar or when a film or book just won't do, I would use my laptop for games - pretty much at the moment just AC Black Flag, Rainbow Siege, Hitman Absolution, Just Cause 3, GTA V, Metal Gear Solid and ARMA.
My laptop would also be for music (as well as while editing) and of course internet/emailing/youtube/etc.
I've got 2TB worth of external storage already, and don't mind buying more.

So, if you've lasted this long through all my drivel... my main question is would this spec stand up to what I'm needing? :
Would it be worth looking at a 32GB RAM and an M.2 SSD Drive, or leave them for years to come to upgrade to?

Given your usage, I think it could be worthwhile to max out your memory (to 32GB) and storage (to a 2TB SSD). In general, though, that system should work for you, provided that it has a screen that can display enough of the color gamut accurately for your photos.

M.2 drives are just starting to come into their own, and some have issues with overheating due to the small form factor. You may want to hold off on getting an M.2 SSD until the tech matures a bit more and overheating isn't as much of an issue.

    A good choice

16GB is more the sufficient for your task especially since it is DDR4

If you plan to game make sure it is 980M this will handle your needs better

    1. SSD main O/S and software drive, a 500 SSD should suffice for main install and other software install
    2. 2nd HDD for storage or game install or make this a SSD as well and get the biggest one you can get

I don't use it it cost more the SSD and overall return SSD would give you more expansion for $$$

I would find out that offer Sound Blaster Z series sound

I would choose iNtel wifi better support and I trust iNtel tech more. Bluetooth get the latest 4.1 or higher

Look for USB3.1 the latest version or USB C

This should be based on how portable do you want to be?

Make sure it is higher then posted on your laptop sticker

For me any O/S not Pro or higher is what I would buy... As to which will depend on what do you expect from the O/S to do for you??

Since you mention gaming, I would bump that 970M up to a 980M. It'll give you better performance, especially in newer AAA titles. Also, since you're going to be doing professional work, drop the 850 Evo in favor of an 850 Pro, SanDisk Extreme Pro, or Intel SSD 730 Series.
