    Hi everyone,
I have been a longtime reader of these boards and have a question that i can seem to find an answer to. I have x200s, which I love and have put a good amount of money into as far as upgrades (screens, batteries, dock). Problem is the motherboard is showing signs of dying. It is a 7465-CTO with a WXGA screen upgraded to an AFFS. Also has a fingerprint reader if it matters. Ideally, if i am going to replace the motherboard, I would like it to be an upgrade. I have come across a few posts indicating that an x201s board would fit as long as i also replace the palmrest. However, i am worried about the compatability of screen connections. I found a good deal for a i5 system board for $145 ( Alan Computech International wholesaler, distributor and reseller of Hewlett Packard, Compaq, IBM, DELL, Gateway, NEC and Packard Bell surplus computer products and components ... y2172.html). Any thoughts if this will work? Thanks for the help ahead of time.

    Welcome to the forum!

The screen connections are the same.

I can't say whether the X201s planar will fit in the X200s chassis since I've never done it myself, but my guess would be that it will. Palmrest is interchangeable between the two, so I don't see why swapping it would be a requirement for a proper fit.

Why not just get a X200/s board, or an entire machine with a bad/busted LCD? They are dime-a-dozen nowadays...

    My $0.02 only...

    Good luck.

Thanks for the reply. I am considering the x201s board because the difference in prices between the motherboards are minimal and a used x200s is right around the same. Figure if i have to spend the money and take the entire thing apart, why not get an upgrade out of it. I read that people have done a swap with a x201 and x200, but haven't actually seen anyone confirm it on the (s). Looking at the Thinkpad parts list, I am thinking it should work. Guess i'll have to just go for it!
