okay well first i want to make sure.. the x7800 and x7900 are socket p? work with merom based lappy's?? and im thinking about getting one for my new lappy thats on the way.. it has the T5450 so obviously im going to upgrade.. does the x7900 decrease battery life a lot..?? as opposed to a processor like the t7500 or t7700?? i know the extremes are 44 watts while the t-line is 35.. but the extremes are supposed to help with power consumption somehow.. anyone have one in their lappy? like it? hate it? thanks a lot..

I assume yes, check out Chaz's review of the Dell XPS M1750 with the X7900 CPU.

Most laptops top out at 50-60watts an hour on integrated GPU and 15.4 screen. -
Those components do not suck a lot of power, you should not have to worry about battery life.
My Opty sucks 125 watts and my Quadro sucks 65 watts, not a good combination for portability and battery life, but sometimes we must sacrifice battery life for performance.
Intel processors are very good with performance even when undervolted. Undervolting can be done through programs like CPU rightmark. My T5300 in my dell I undervolted from 1.350 to 0.950V. Now it runs from 798Mhz @ 0.95V to 1.73Ghz @ 0.95V.
You should be able to undervolt those processors enough, so that the battery life run time will be just as good as the processor it replaced.

It's insanely expensive . . . what notebook are you looking at upgrading?

im looking to put it in my c-140x tablet pc thats on the way.. the only thing is that i know that im going to have to use a cooler if i plan on running it with the stock heatsink and paste.. but i would probably have to cut down the power on it when im on the go.. the benchmarks on the x7900 are very impressive, thats why im so interested..
X7900??
