Theres many Intel Core2Extreme Mobile X9100 3.06Ghz 6M CPU's on ebay for around 280 Euro coming from Taiwan.

Does anyone know if these are genuine good working CPU's?

For that price they are most likely engineering samples.
Most ES chips are fine, but please note that most do not have temperature probes built into them.
I do not know how much of an upgrade it is going to be since your already at 2.8GHz,
I think it is a better idea to save up for a quad core

As long as it's a QS chip, with C0 stepping, it'll be fine.

Dont you wish custom notebook retailers like alienware had a step up program or something like EVGA has, only you could upgrade parts and pay the difference between your cpu cost and the replacement cpu cost, and so forth

It would be so cool :D

Yep, i also think its quite silly that in order to have a CPU upgrade you need to send in your notebook and pay major $$ for the upgrade....it can be done much cheaper and much customer friendly....
