I wanted to get a few issues out of the way before I get my new ext hdd. I am planning to buy a sata 1 tb 3.5" hdd and connect it to my computer using an enclosure. I asked for prices and I am able to get a 1 TB with 5 year warranty for around rs.5200 (1$=Rs45). The price seems great and I will be able to get a much cheaper hdd if i make it myself using a desktop hdd.

    here are my questions:

    1. Can the firewire port in xps 1530 be used to connect to enclosures thru firewire. Keeping the price increase in mind, is the transfer speed gain worth it?

    2. I live in India. Is it possible to get such an enclosure for < rs 900 (around $20)? which one should i go for?

3.I know this, but just wanted to confirm if I should take a sata+enclosure or idee+enclosure as my external hdd.
