I'm asking this on behalf of someone else. The person has a 1st edition XPS M1210 with a Core Duo processor (1.83GHz) and 1Gb of RAM. I'd like to know which model of processor the motherboard can support along with the type of RAM (4200 or 5400) the laptop can take maximum.

The warranty on this machine expired some time ago so I'm not worried about that.

With a sufficiently up-to-date BIOS, he should be able to upgrade to anything in the T7x00 C2D series processor. He should also be able to use up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM, preferably of the 667MHz flavor.

You will not be able to use all T7x00 processors as the M1210 is not Santa Rosa. You'll be 'limited' to the T7200, T7400, and T7600 processors.

You can get PC5300 (5400 is a marketing/numbers scam to make more money)...but even with a 64bit OS you'll only see about 3.25GB of RAM. No matter what. This is a limitation of the 945 chipset in the laptop.

Guess that leaves 2x1GB ram sticks for the person in question. Then again I didn't expect much for a Go 7400 driver and said person doesn't play Crysis type games. Thanks for the replies NBR admins!
