Hi everybody, I would like ask you about that- I just bought week ago my XPS 1530 and love it, it has great LG screen (the black is black, the screen is extremely bright) and tell me, please, is it worth change my screen with LED one? Is the difference in quality very big (exept the brightness)? Thank you!

IMHO, the LED screen is worth it. It would be the only thing worth the M1530 to me since there are better laptops on newer platforms with better specs for less money.

You can configure from xoticpc or powernotebooks.com

Interesting. Can you think of anything else that is better about the XPS M1530?

The new MSI (sold at powernotebooks and xoticpc is better as well and much sleeker).

When you say change to a LED, do you mean return/rebuy? Or do a aftermarket "upgrade"? If it is the later, you will need alot more then just the screen to do it.

Anyways, I think I need to see LED first person to really decide if it is worth it or not. Because something is just not clicking in my logic of having a super bright screen.

When you buy a new LCD or Plasma TV, and if you wan't to get the most out of it. You will at the very least go get a calibrating dvd and go to town. Nine times out of 10, you will end up turning the brightness down to get better PQ. Generally LCD's have higher brightness, and Plasma's have higher contrast ratio/color saturation/black levels. To me, plasma's when calibrated right, look much better then LCD's.

My Dell 24" monitor, is @ about 50% on the brightness (which I think is actually black level, someone correct me on this). Sure I could crank it up, and get it brighter, but then it affects black levels.

Now yes, I could see wanting a very bright screen while surfing/working/on in a bright room. I don't know about the rest of you, but when I am gaming, or watching a movie, I am turning down the lights a bit (or off for the movie).

    Is my logic flawed?

Thank you very much! I think I am lucky guy with my screen, it's really nice one, so may be I wouldn't take a risk to change it...

That would be my advice too. I've heard very good things about the LG screen.
