Got a 360 for christmas :) , but unfortunately for me the only TV going spare in our house is a crappy old 14 inch job. Even worse, the screen is square so i loose part of the game at the sides.

So my question is, is it possible to set up a 360 to work with a laptop screen or desktop computer screen?

I have a 19inch desktop, and my dads old laptop was 17inch widescreen, so the screen itself is no problem. I'm even aware of a VGA kit available ( http://www.game.co.uk/Xbox360/Hardware/Accessory/~r327668/GAMEware-Xbox-360-VGA-Cable/?s=vga cable), but I'm not sure yet if this will work with a computer.

So If I need any alternate kit, or any other facts or problems pop up, please tell me.
    Thanks for any help!

You wont get it to work on the laptop screen unless you seriously modify the inside of the laptop and make it not work anymore. But that vga cable should work on a desktop monitor no problem as long as it has a vga input which most have.

    Laptops usually are VIDEO outputs.
I tried hooking up via HDMI my ELITE with my P6831FX and it did not work for me.

You can use your laptop screen for your XBOX 360 if you have the Elgato EyeTV Hybrid, as that functions as the AV convertor that allows you to play your XBOX 360 on your laptop. Only one drawback: It's $129.

I would think there would be some delay with that which might bake the game unplayable. There are several devices that would allow you took hook up your 360 to your laptop and use the display, mainly TV tuners and the like, but I would think there would be far too much lag to really play and enjoy the game.

For the price to buy a pc card to allow your laptop screen to display 360 games, you might as well buy a CRT tv. It's cheap, and probably the best type of tv for gaming.

Why pay $129 on a converter to play games on a 17" notebook when you can buy a brand new 19" Widescreen LCD monitor for same price ? for a little bit more you can even get a 22" Widescreen LCD (at $169). If space is not a problem then I'm sure you can find a big old second hand ~30" CRT TV for around $150. People are throwing away CRTs these days :p might be able to even find one for free...

Why pay $129 for a converter when yo can have one for $14??

Works great, there is no lag. Its ultra small and usb powered.

I use it to capture game footage or to play consoles or any other composite/svideo devices on my laptop when on the go.

I would not consider this a permanent solution though like you plan to use it daily instead of a tv because its only SD quality.

HD quality is not possible via USB the bitrate is too high I think. Also things like lag/delay would be more prone.

I would get a new TV or monitor (with HDMI and/or component input). Some converters have poor picture quality and introduce lag. Imagine playing a racing game where you should have made a right turn 2 seconds ago and you end up going off the track.

Might be a bit difficult carrying it across the atlantic...

Sorry, been away so havent said anything, but I went and bought the VGA adapter and I've got it working on my desktop, but new question; Anyone know how much a splitter would cost, so I have the PC and 360 plugged into a box plugged into the screen, and I can just flick a switch rather than repeatedly unplug the cable?
Its just I'm worried about damaging the pins, as I'm guessing the cable isnt really designed to be unplugged every day
