Hi, I'm thinking of buying a gaming laptop on Xotic PC and I want an mSATA SS Drive (slot 1) in my laptop but I was wondering if the OS is put onto the SSD instead of the primary hard drive? I want to put a 60GB SSD in it but I also want a 1TB HD for space and I need to know if the OS will be installed onto the SSD.

It's your choice where it goes. In their Sager configurator, the mSATA choices are having it preconfigured for OS or for storage.
60GB, personally, I wouldn't go that small. -
It would be better to use it as a caching drive for the HDD. So, get the OS installed on the HDD.

Well I'm thinking of buying the Lenovo y510p but I don't see a caching drive:

What do you recommend I do? -
Hmm, that's strange. I recommend getting a 128GB regular SSD (not mSATA) and then an external 1TB HDD off Amazon for like $70.
You should contact them and ask about getting an mSATA caching drive with an HDD. If you can get this combination, I'd get the 64GB Crucial M4 mSATA SSD (cache) and a 1TB HDD (primary). -
Ditto to what Bullrun said, I personally wouldn't go for a SSD smaller then 128GB but I wouldn't go any higher either for my use because I'm cheap.
I'd put the money towards a buying 128GB Plexter M5M or 120GB Intel 525 (both mSATA SSD's and which ever is cheaper cause Intel's mSATA SSD's are expensive) then you can always image the OS installed by Xotic PC to a mSATA SSD bought after the laptop. -

If you plan to install your OS on an SSD, you will also want to install your applications on the SSD.
