    HI,
Is there anyway to add more drives to Y 50 as the Lenovo great engineers who designed the laptop had forgot to add mSata prt, merely cruel step by Lenovo to miss the key from the great laptop.

Now my query is how to add additional , more than 1 drive to Y50.Y 50 or How to convert standard 2.5inch SATA HDD bay to Multiple SSD drives? Any ideas

    1. May be, is there any aftermarket addons / adapters to convert single 2.5" standard SATA bay to 2 or more m2Sata or mSata or NGF stuff for dual boot / Dual OS / Dual drive stuff.
    2. Seems one can add new SSD to wireless card place holder by sacrificing Intel card to uSB wireless.

Any experts can jumpin as this is very useful stuff for many Y50 solo drive owners.

    Thx

Startech make this adapter to put 2 x mSATA into a 2.5" bay.

It is discussed in this forum and my recollection that the JMicron controller in the adapter slower than a fast mSATA SSD.

    Hello John,
Is there any connecter which can accommodate 2 MSATA SSD into one 2.5 Inch notebook drive (with Port splitter built-in) as OS can identify as 2 individual drives vs the Startech RAID adapter, it seems OS will treat Startech RAID adapter as 1 drive / combined 2 msata in to 1.
    Please advcie.
    thx

The SATA connector is designed to connect to only one device. The diagram here shows 3 x ground lines, 2 x transmit and 2 x receive.

Hence the only way to put more than one storage device onto a single SATA connector is to use an intermediate controller between the SATA connector and the drives. The computer can see only this controller and not the individual drives.
