Right now, NCIX is selling Corsair Force Series 120GB SSDs for only $150.00 (last week they were on sale for $120.00). It seems like a really good deal for something with (advertised) 285Mb/s read and 275Mb/s write speeds.

What is concerning about these drives is that they come with a 30 day warranty, which leads me to believe that they may be prone to failure. Does anyone know what the deal with refurbished drives is?

Buying an SSD without warranty is not a very good idea in my opinion.

Buying a Sandforce SSD without warranty is an even worse idea.

I wouldn't do it unless you could get a SquareTrade warranty for it for cheap. A Force 3 120GB with a three-year warranty is around $215, I think it's worth the extra coin.

IIRC, Corsair had a voluntary recall on some of their Force drives. I wonder if these could be refurbished recalled ones. Corsair does have excellent service, but 30 days on any SSD would make me uncomfortable.

FYI: The recall was for Force 3, the link in the first post was to the original Force 120GB.

Don't do it. Buy new, as it's just not worth possibly losing your money in 30 days time.

Yes, I think I read someone say that their refurb drive failed on the 31st day. The amount you save is definitely not worth the risk.

SquareTrade 1 yr. warranty for a $220 drive is $38 which makes the price difference from new even less. I guess if it's for a non-critical machine or data then maybe worth it.
