Like Justin, Eddy, coriolis and others have posted before, something about other drives being able to fit, but you'd have to find the proper rails and stuff to fit it properly in the bay as it is not a standard bay drive.

Thanks for the reply Shampoo. I am putting together a barebone Z70va, and this helps.

BTW are you happy with your Atheros AR5006XS? Is it superior to the Intel 2915 model?

    Ooooooooh you are? SWEEEEEEET~!

Good to see the Z70Va still being a hot item of interest.

    She's a beaut~!

Seriously superior to the Intel 2915, with which I've had experience. The Intel 2200b/g is a piece of junk, the Intel 2915 is better, but still not up to par with Atheros.

My AR5006XS is like a wired connection. NEVER EVER dropped on me once. I lied, dropped once, but wasn't really a drop. I had too many torrents going and my notebook kinda farted and dropped the wireless connection. :D

Get one if you can through the group buy thread in the buy/sell section. That's where I got mine for a fantastic price.

I say stick with the combo drive instead of getting a dvd burner as well, since many have had problems with the dvd burner from Asus. I believe it's a TSST like all the others Asus uses.

Hope that helps, anymore questions just ask away~!

I have an ND-6500A in mine. It required firmware modding to be primary slave, otherwise the laptop won't work at all (HD and OD conflict).
