    Z71V Mic problems

    I having problems with my mic on my asus z71v, the built in one has a lot a interference and distortion when i use it so i tried a plug in mic and i am having the same problem i have switched the sound recording to the new mic in device manager and i know the new mic is good as it works perfectly well with my other computer an ideas??

    You may have a bad sound card. AFAIK lots of users were complaining about "sound issues" with that model. You may send your laptop back and ask for a sound card replacement.

    It was being sold for $25 for my Z70V. So that shouldn't be much different. Hope they have some spare...

    Excellent I am a bit of a novice when it comes to that sort of thing so my next question is what sound card would be the best to go for?

    You will have only one option for that. The sound card of that laptop is highly customized for that specific machine only and you can not use anything other than that.

    If you are novice for those issues the best thing for you is to send your laptop to your dealer or a repair shop and let them handle the rest for you. Opening up the laptop chassis and replacing specific components require some expertise (albeit not that much).
