I'm trying to install a Intel E5400 CPU into my ZD8215US laptop. It will power on but turn it self off after a few seconds. When I put the old CPU back in it will boot without issue.
Here is the old CPU: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=27496
Here is the new one: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=40478
Is this do-able?

Nope. Sorry. HP ZD Series are not made for Core 2 CPUs. Unless you can find updates for the BIOS and chipset.

Yeah, the chipset used by that Pentium 4 doesn't seem to be supported by the E5400.
