Hey Guys,
I have Dell D420 with a ZIF HDD.
How do I remove the cable that from the HDD it self?
I can remove it from the laptop, it's not a problem.
But, in the manual it says to push up the white thingy, but it doesn't budge. It seems like I have to put in a lot of force. But even at that, it doesn't come off. It seems like I'm about to break it.
For something that is Zero Insertion Force, I need to put in a lot...
Anyways, the service manual for the HDD upgrade is here if anyone wants to check it out.

Thanks for including the link.
The Zero Insertion Force means that no effort is needed to insert the cable (when the latch is released).
I think you will find that the latch is hinged. If you put the blade of a small screwdriver under the side of the latch nearest the edge then it should lift up on the pivots (look carefully to see where the pivots are). You might be able to use a thumbnail. You don't need to lift the whole latch.

Ok thanks,
I'll give it a try later tonight.
Edit:
Since I don't want to bump it:
The black thing can be lift up and then the cable comes out.
I found this while trying to find a case:
